What an incredible summer it’s been for the Extreme Team as Mac and Liz have traveled all over America’s beautiful heartland and entertained some of the greatest fans you’ll find anywhere. The heart of the summer tour kicked off in Davisburg, Michigan for Larry Hatt at the Oakland County Fair. Mac is always a favorite there and battled it out with Allen Pezo in Predator, just finishing runner-up to the black cat in both events.
After a few days of enjoying beautiful Michigan in the summer, the team made its way to Thief River Falls, Minnesota to compete in a Thursday night Speed Motorsports Tour event at the Pennington County Fair. Much like a lot of the 2011 season, Mac dominated the field, convincingly winning both the racing and freestyle portions of the show.
From there, Mac and Liz headed south to Champaign, Illinois to compete against the Dodge sponsored Raminator and the legendary Dan Patrick in Samson. In impressive fashion, Mac piloted Ballistic to the racing victory over one of the sport’s best racers in Mark Hall driving Raminator. Mac capped the great SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY event off with a strong freestyle.
After hanging out in Illinois for the week, the team was ready to participate in a first time event at the Dupage County Fair in Wheaton, Illinois. Mac would be running against Australian champion Clive Featherby in Outback Thunda as well as father-son team Greg and Zach Adams. The Aussie was on kill, rolling his truck twice but Mac still managed to represent the USA well, winning wheelies in the first show with a jaw-dropping walking wheelie, and taking the racing victory in the evening show.
From Illinois, it was on to North Platte, Nebraska to compete on the MEGA Promotions Tour event at the Wild West Arena. Running with tough competition including Barbarian, Razin Kane and Rammunition, Mac made solid showings in all competitions but couldn’t quite get Ballistic into victory lane.
The next two weeks would be the whirlwind finale to Larry Hatt’s Michigan tour. Mac and Liz rolled into the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Jackson, Michigan determined to put on a great show for the fans. After Pezo swept the first stop in Davisburg, Mac knew it would be a tough road ahead. After the fans had cheered and the dust had settled, Ballistic had wowed the crowd and finished in the top of the rankings alongside the always tough Pezo. From there it was on to Mt. Morris where Mac thrilled the crowd with intense donuts and a high paced freestyle run at the Genessee County Fairgrounds. Armada, Michigan was up next where Pezo once again edged out Mac for victory, but the crowd was certainly treated to some great Ballistic action.
The final two shows of the tour were in Petovsky, Michigan and Mac wasn’t about to be held winless for the whole series. After finishing second in racing Friday night, Mac brought Ballistic out for freestyle, nailing perfect vertical slap wheelies and riding them the length of the track! The crowd was ecstatic and gave Mac the well-deserved freestyle victory! The following night Mac returned to victory lane in racing and turned in another solid freestyle with incredible wheelstands and power-packed slap wheelies to cap off an incredible tour.
After all that time spent in the great Northern section of the Midwest, the team headed south for Arkansas as good friend Greg Price and his AMMP Motorsports would be doing their first event at the Beebe Speedway. Mac pulled off a great donut win in the Friday night event and turned in solid performances all weekend, but Bruce Haney in Bad News Travels Fast was on kill, sweeping all of the other events.
Mac and Liz are so thankful for all the great fans who came out during the wild summer tour. Next up we’re off to Paducah, Kentucky where Ballistic will run for our good friend Rodney Tweedy in a show at Carson Park. Stay tuned to the Extreme Team site for results from Paducah and check out our schedule to see where Mac and the Extreme Team will be this fall!
